Chemical Peels

“Wow! What an amazing amount of knowledge he has. I was totally blown away by his talks. Just gave me the yearning to learn more, just wish I’d met him 20 years ago too!”

Suzanne Wood

What are Chemical Peels?

Peels are the oldest form of rejuvenation, dating back over 3000 years

Though being around this long does not stop the misunderstanding of them

From simple home remedies to AHAs, BHA’s and new Bionic acids the uses are endless

We need to understand what each acid is and what its job is, in relation to the condition needing treatment

We also need to understand the physiological impact peels have on the skin

It is one of the most complicated educational practices due to the amount of peels and opinions often contradicting each other

The individual acids have their own jobs to do. So, whether they are used on their own or in combination with others this is the pre requisite to understanding how they work and in which situation to use them

Chemical peeling is also known as chemexfoliation or chemical exfoliation

It is a procedure where a chemical substance applied to the skin causes controlled destruction of the epidermis with or without part of the dermis, leading to skin regeneration and remodelling

It is not a particularly difficult treatment to do, but definitely is one that needs a thorough understanding.
