Hair loss can have a variety of negative repercussions for an individual’s psychological wellbeing and quality of life
It is apparent that hair loss causes dramatic and devastating emotions in patients
These can negatively impact their self-esteem, body image and self confidence
Many men feel isolated and have fears of being considered vain if they openly admit to being unhappy with their hair loss
Some patients also reported that their hair loss negatively affected their social activities and interactions
Changes in self-perception and self-esteem, and decreases in sensuality and sexuality were also felt to be related to the hair loss
Hair loss may be more distressing for women, perhaps because a woman’s hair is regarded as an indicator of personality, attractiveness, sexuality and femininity
Clients that come to see you with this problem have to be treated with respect, integrity and honesty
They should not be presented with fad treatments with insane costs attached
There are a few clinical treatments that have a very positive effect on both scalp health and hair loss and these will be the only ones discussed
Hair loss is complicated and not a guarantee when it comes to treatment
Honestly and integrity is no 1 when it comes to the consultation and treatment.
